We carry out a complete assessment of all your existing lighting systems, replacing and upgrading lamps and fittings where necessary. We will also propose replacements for your obsolete equipment with the latest low energy products and, where necessary, design and install complete lighting and energy saving systems.
By helping you to reduce the amount of energy you use through lighting; SLD will help you play your part in meeting your environmental goals. Through an energy audit and recommendations we can show you how to reduce your energy use and improve your whole lighting installation at the same time, utilising the latest technologies in energy saving lighting.
We manage your lighting project for you and provide a unique aftercare service. To complement the manufacturer’s 5 year product warranty, we offer you a labour warranty which protects your maintenance budget in the unlikely event of product failure.
SLD has an experienced team of engineers, all of whom are qualified electricians with first class knowledge of lighting installation and building fabrication.
We make the installation process speedy and hassle-free. Whether your site is large or small; we will ensure disruption and downtime are kept to a minimum. Our projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed design specification. We have successfully completed many installations on commercial projects from £1,000 to £1,000,000.
An essential element of the business case for LED is the ROI (Return on Investment), also called the Payback Calculation. We will provide this as part of our service based on a simple, easy to understand formula using basic data points.
Project Type | Typical Payback period |
---|---|
Office | 24 Months |
Industrial | 12 Months |
Operational Hours | Number and Wattage of existing fittings | Your current kWh rate and CO2 emissions |
Estimated cost of yearly maintenance and upkeep | Proposed new fixtures or lamp quantity | Installation cost of new fixtures |
Not only do we stock a wide range of LED lamps and luminaires, but we back that up with a range of bespoke services including energy audits and payback calculations; lighting surveys/design and installation.
In addition, the government is currently offering a financial incentive to switch to low energy products: the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme enables businesses to claim a 100% first year capital allowance on investments in certain energy saving equipment, against the taxable profits of the period of investment.
During an energy audit, we identify the existing lighting layout and the products currently in use. Additionally we obtain the hours of operation, the occupancy levels and the current lighting objectives. Recommendations are then made including switching to LED lamps, new light fittings, lighting controls or a combination of all three. Initial focus is usually on the high consumption areas with the quickest pay backs for our customers.
If the time is not right for the investment of a re-lamp, we can organise re-makes of old or unusual light fittings and have copy louvres produced for matching purposes.
If a light fitting is irreplaceable, extremely old or very valuable, we can have it removed from site; reworked, reconditioned, or converted from a traditional light source to LED, standard or emergency lighting.
We can organise an installation service for re-lamps, conversions, strip outs and refits. All works carried out include the required risk assessments and meet BS7671 for electrical installations and BS5266 for emergency lighting.
We have built excellent relationships with the premier lighting manufacturers, enabling us to offer value and choice. If you are embarking on a major project, we can organise Manufacturer visits for you to support lighting specification and selection.
Fluorescent and gas discharge lamps are classed as hazardous waste under the W.E.E.E. (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulation, a Government led scheme which requires a sustainable approach to the disposal of electrical waste.
We are a registered collection point and can provide various supplies (such as lamp coffins) and solutions for the storage and removal of used lamps and tubes, batteries and electrical waste.
We recycle all different categories of lamps under one roof. We supply one container to take all types of fluorescent tubes and gas discharge lamps and instead of you having to segregate and count your lamp waste separately, we do it for you. We collect the containers and transport them back to our site for the lamps to be fully recycled, including the recovering of sodium and mercury for re-use.
We dispose of the waste in an environmentally responsible way (via our partner Recolight) and provide WEEE certification to enable your compliance with the regulations.
We take the worry away and you are safe in the knowledge that you are 100% compliant with legislation.
